A Supercar is a sports car, typically an exotic or rare one, whose performance is highly superlative to its contemporary sports cars. They are pure bestial look and performance. Even if you never own one of these they will change the way you feel about cars just by looking at them.

1. Dubai Police’s Bugatti Veyron is Now a Reality

Back in May 2013, we reported that the Dubai Police had invested in a Bugatti Veyron to add to its list of insane supercars. Well, that story ended up being nothing more than a photoshop’d version of a custom Veyron from our pals over at Kahn Design. Commenters — obviously folks from Dubai — also pointed out that the image that circulated the web was simply a suggestion to the Dubai Police force and not a claim that the model actually existed.

Well, regardless of who was right — our source or the commenters — this Veyron has now become a reality. And to prove its realness, the Dubai Police released a video highlighting the model all done up in the signature green and white livery.

We are still curious as to why the Dubai Police need all of these supercars in its fleet, but residents of the Middle Eastern emirate can rest assured that their police can catch damn near any criminal on the road.

To think, the coolest cop car I ever knew of was when my local State Police picked up a Fox Body `Stang as its "high-speed pursuit" vehicle...

2. Horacio Pagani Outlines the History of the Pagani Brand

Now this is a rare treat folks; a 11-minute monologue by Horacio Pagani himself about the history of the brand he’s created. It, of course, all begins with Pagani’s youth when he would help his father with his cars, then moved into him building a dune buggy, then onto developing his own open-wheel competition car.

From there, the rest was history, as he took on the lowest-level job in Lamborghini ’s body shop, and became part of a team that the automaker challenged to build a composite chassis. From this came the Countach Evoluzione, which was simply a test car that was later purposely crashed to test the safety of this new composite frame.

This amazing story just keeps on going, and gets more interesting every minute. It is so amazing how well Mr. Pagani can outline his life with such accuracy and detail, and keep my attention despite having to read the English translation below. Honestly, though, car is a universal language, so half the time I grasped the concept just from his emotion and the video.

Simply an amazing video featuring one of the true rags-to-riches stories of the supercar world.

3. 2015 Koenigsegg One:1

Rumors about a possible Koenigsegg One:1 special edition started to surface on the Internet a few weeks ago. Until now, it has been rumored that its odd usage of the number one in its name is because it will be a one-off model. New details now suggest that there will be five units built and that the name has nothing to do with the number of units produced.

In an interview with Cars UK, Christian von Koenigsegg reported that the car’s One:1 name is in fact a reference to its power-to-weight ratio — 1 horsepower for every 1 kg of weight. This means that the next supercar will deliver somewhere between 1,250 and 1,350 horsepower, which is a significant increase over the Agera R’s 1,140 horsepower.

Von Koenigsegg also announced that the supercar is still in its early stages of development and a production date is not set. We anticipate that all five units will be sold on the Chinese market, and the price will be near $2 million.

4. Bugatti Pays Tribute to the Veyron With Special EB 18/4 Display

The Veyron has been the epitome of ultra luxury , ultra performance for well over a decade now, and to celebrate that, Bugatti is taking a look back at the original — or in this case, the first concept EB 18/4 Veyron design study displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show back in 1999.

Bugatti is bringing the Veyron concept to display at this year’s Salon Rétromobile in Paris, the premier event for vintage and historical French vehicles. This marks the first time the EB 18/4 Veyron concept has been displayed since its debut in ’99.

One look at the concept, and it’s apparent how true the production Veyron stayed true to the original design. The first production Veyron was completed in 2005, and featured a monstrous 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged, W-16 engine with DOHC and four valves per cylinder. Its output was equally as monstrous at 1,001 horsepower and 922 pound-feet of torque. It’s Haldex all-wheel-drive system was a must in order to send power to the ground without melting the tires. Its top speed was in excess of 200 mph, with later versions hitting 250 mph.

Bugatti’s current crop of Veyrons include the 16.4 Grand Sport and 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. The latter of which delivers a mind-blowing 1,200 horsepower and currently holds the title of word’s fastest series production roadster. Only 150 Vitesse Veyrons will be built, but according to the press release below, roughly 40 are still unspoken for. A fat checkbook is a requirement, however, as the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse costs well over $2.6 million.

Then again, if 1,200 horsepower isn’t enough, rest easy knowing that Volkswagen says the next Veyron will exceed that current output rating.

5. Need for Speed Movie Extended Super Bowl Commercial

Time is drawing ever closer for the very anticipated debut of DreamWorks’ "Need For Speed" — a fast-paced, high-adrenaline and cop-fleeing good time with millions of dollars worth of super cars and exotics. You may have seen the 30-second commercial for the film during Super Bowl XLVIII, but this extended trailer has just now surfaced.

Hold on to your seats as the wild antics of high-speed pursuits get pretty intense. Watching the trailer, though, is made easier knowing the cars being destroyed are mere replicas — hand-built, tube-framed chassis that are sculpted to look identical to the real deal. We can’t say the same thing about the numerous Dodge Chargers and Chevy Tahoes getting knocked around.

6. Take a Ride in the Pagani Zonda S With Horacio Pagani

How does a ride in the Pagani Zonda S with Horacio Pagani himself? Sounds pretty awesome, right?

Well, when Horacio Pagani offers you a ride in his personal Zonda S, the only answer that should cross your lips is "hell, yeah!" The lucky guy is an editor from XCar, who not only had Mr. Pagani as his personal taxi driver, but was also allowed to test this special Zonda S himself.

The car you see driven here is the sixth Zonda ever produced. This model was the first all-carbon-fiber car, which help reduce the Zonda’s curb weight drastically and improved the handling of this already-awesome supercar .

The Zonda S 7.3 uses a 7.3-liter, AMG-sourced, V-12 engine that delivers a total of 547 horsepower 550 pound-feet of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 3.7 seconds, while top speed is 208 mph.

7. Volkswagen Chief Says Next Veyron will Deliver More Power

A while ago Bugatti announced that both a production version of the Galibier and the SuperVeyron were canceled. Now, in a recent interview with the British magazine AutoCar, Volkswagen Group chief Martin Winterkorn confirmed that this decision was made in order to focus all the company’s attention on the development of a direct successor to the Veyron .

Winterkorn offered no other details on this new supercar, nor did he offer an official launch date, but he said: "The Galibier is officially dead. We won’t do it. In its place will be a second-generation Veyron with more power."

So, what does this means for Bugatti? Pretty much nothing, except that we’re going to see a bit more powerful model than the current Veyron SuperSport , which delivers a total of 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet. Of course, don’t expect it to deliver 1,500 horsepower, like the SuperVeyron was supposed to, but it will fall somewhere between the Veyron SuperSport and the rumored SuperVeyron.

It wouldn’t hurt to see a completely revised exterior, but likely won’t happen, as Bugatti is not too open to change from what we have seen lately.

8. Meet The Replica Supercars of "Need for Speed"

It’s no surprise that a movie named "Need For Speed" will star plenty of potent and expensive supercars . When you’re dealing with cars as expensive as the ones in the movie, the last thing you want to do is damage one.

In order to avoid this possibility, the crew put together the entire replica-supercar lineup in less than six months that includes the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport , Koenigsegg Agera , Lamborghini Sesto Elemento , McLaren P1 , Saleen S7 , GTA Spano and many more.

Along with these supercars, we also know that the 2015 Ford Mustang will also star in the upcoming movie and will be driven by Aaron Paul.

9. 2014 Nissan GT-R: Driven

The 2014 Nissan GT-R is the flagship of the Nissan brand and represents one of the greatest price-to-performance bargains of all time. Thanks to a 545 horsepower engine, a quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission and an advanced all-wheel drive system, the GT-R has set multiple track records for production cars around the world.

Despite its ability to blitz most Ferraris and Lamborghinis around a track, the GT-R carries a price that is less than half those competitors.

Nissan has even tried to infuse a large dose of day-to day livability by giving the GT-R four seats and a large trunk.

But where did Nissan sacrifice to keep the price down? Can it match the more expensive competitors in refinement, comfort or technology? I spent 10 days and more than 1,600 miles behind the wheel to figure out if the newest version of Nissan’s ultimate sports car is everything it seems to be.

10. Lamborghini Huracan Captured Flexing its Muscles in Commercial Shoot

It goes without saying that Lamborghini is regarded as one of the most prestigious auto brands in the world, so it really doesn’t have much use for commercials. If the name of the game is fostering brand awareness, Lamborghini doesn’t need that.

Yet there it was, the new Lamborghini Huracan , being filmed running around some city streets, which looks to be a commercial shoot in plain view of pedestrians. That’s awesome and all, especially since it just made its debut a little over a month ago, but the big deal is that this is the first time we actually get to see the Huracan in its natural element.

Normally, things like this go unnoticed without us even blinking an eyelash, but exceptions are certainly made for cars like the Huracan. Add to that the fact that it’s sporting an orange hue that’s similar to what we first saw with the Aventador a few years back, and we can’t help but stare and drool.

More importantly, watching the video and hearing that throaty growl of the Huracan makes us believe that we haven’t seen the best of this new Lambo yet.
